Food

Food glorious food. We all need it to survive and actually it seems to make good conversation, as it is something we all have in common. It is amazing how much variation one meal can actually have between different people though.

Do you find yourself struggling for new ideas and don’t have the time to discover new recipes and so end up just cooking the same thing over and over? Especially if there’s a lot of you and you have meals at different times and/or have very different tastes to each other? Do you tend to skip breakfast? Are you a snacker and tend to just grab a quick packet of crisps or a chocolate bar – and possibly feel bad about it later on?

I love jacket potatoes for something quick and healthy, or beans on toast – and my children love just pasta.

Have you considered how your diet impacts the environment? Thrifty & Green explain what is a Vegan and how that can help the environment. Or maybe you are very good and buy locally sourced, in season food, and know exactly what to do with it. Is this always affordable? Practical? Do you make sure you never waste food? There’s a good website to help with ideas on how not to waste food – love food hate waste which has good recipes for your leftovers.

Stew is one of my all time favourite winter meals, as it is not only nutritional and warms you up, but you can use up the ingredients that grow at this time of year, and add anything or everything – to avoid waste of things going off.

Or maybe you grow your own – and even get the family involved.
